Our immune system is overloaded with so many chemicals in all aspects of life. Why overburden them even more by taking unnecessary chemical medications when we can lean on natural remedies for everyday ailments, which are already in our kitchen. Here are some examples of the things we use in our home to help ourselves with common ailments. Of course if any symptoms persist, it is always wise to get a medical check.
It is always good to boost our immune system, especially around colds and flu season, by taking such as Echinacea, vitamin C, Vitamin D, a good probiotic such as a fermented foods powder, and certainly fermented foods such as sauerkraut

Sore throats, coughs and colds.
Onion
Raw onion is amazing. It absorbs germs from the atmosphere so by putting half a raw onion on the bedside at night will help clean your respiratory system. We rub raw onion on the throat and chest and the soles of the feet to alleviate sore throats, coughs and colds. We also make our own cough syrup by peeling and slicing a white onion, placing it in a jar and covering with natural raw honey. After a few hours the juice of the onion will blend with the honey to make a fabulous cough syrup. After about 12 hours I would remove the onion and throw it away and place the syrup in the fridge where it will keep for about a week. All ages can take this natural syrup. |
Sea Salt
For sore throats, gargle with a solution of one teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan rock salt dissolved in a tumbler of water. Drinking a pinch of one of these salts in water regularly not only puts natural earth minerals into you body but is an alkaliser and cleanser too. This solution is also good for bathing wounds. |
Constipation.
